How to swap BTC to ETH

You cannot swap native Bitcoin on a DEX that speaks Ethereum and Solana. “BTC to ETH” on XAUConnect means a wrapped or bridged Bitcoin token — WBTC, cbBTC, BTC.b, or a Solana wrapped BTC mint — sold for ETH or WETH on the chain you actually hold it. If your BTC is in a Bitcoin wallet or a CEX, this page will not see it until you wrap or withdraw to the right VM.

This guide is honest about that wrapping step, then walks the on-chain swap.

Identify which Bitcoin you actually hold

WBTC on Ethereum is not cbBTC on Base is not BTC.b on Avalanche is not an SPL wrapped BTC. Each has a custodian or mint model and a contract you must paste. If you hold native BTC, use a wrapping service or a CEX conversion first — XAUConnect does not custody Bitcoin L1. Pick the chain of that wrapped token. Input the BTC wrapper, output ETH or WETH.

Liquidity is uneven

WBTC/ETH on Ethereum is usually the deepest. Smaller wrappers on L2s can gap. If impact is ugly, you may be in the wrong wrapper or the wrong chain — not “ETH is illiquid.” Rank by minimum received. Multi-hop through USDC is normal when a direct BTC-wrapper/ETH pool is thin.

Gas and approvals

The wrapper is an ERC-20 (or SPL mint). You need native gas (ETH, AVAX, SOL, …) separate from the BTC-token amount. Approve the wrapper exactly on EVM. On Solana, read simulation.

What you receive

ETH on that chain — not Bitcoin-mainnet settlement, not an exchange credit. If you wanted ETH on a different chain, bridge after. If you wanted to “unstick” back to native BTC, that is unwrap/redeem through the wrapper’s official path, which is outside a simple aggregator swap.

Risk that is not price

Wrapped BTC adds custodian or contract risk on top of ETH volatility. Verify you hold the canonical wrapper, not a memecoin named BTC. Size accordingly.

If your BTC is still Bitcoin

A bc1 or xpub balance cannot enter this aggregator. Wrap through the official WBTC/cbBTC/BTC.b process or withdraw a supported wrapper from a venue that already issued it. Then, and only then, pick the chain of that wrapper and sell it for ETH. Sending native BTC to an XAUConnect 0x address is a loss. Sending WBTC to a Solana address is a loss. The swap itself is ordinary ERC-20 or SPL once the wrapper is in the right wallet with gas.

Wrapper risk is not ETH volatility

WBTC can trade away from BTC if custody or contract confidence wobbles. Size as a wrapped asset, not as coin on Bitcoin L1. Verify the canonical wrapper on the explorer, then swap to ETH on that same chain. Unwrapping back to native BTC is the issuer’s redeem path, not this aggregator’s job.

Can I paste a Bitcoin bc1 address as the destination?

No. Destinations here are EVM 0x or Solana base58. Native BTC addresses are the wrong format and funds sent that way are lost.

Which wrapped BTC should I buy if I want ETH exposure the other way?

This article is BTC-wrapper → ETH. The reverse is the same pair flipped. Prefer the wrapper with the deepest pool on the chain you use.

Why is the rate not the Coinbase BTC/ETH price?

You are trading a specific wrapped token against on-chain ETH pools, plus fees. Compare DEX minimum received, not a CEX index.
