How to swap tokens on BNB Chain

BNB Chain is where a lot of traders actually live: low BNB gas, USDT as the default dollar, Pancake-style pools, and a memecoin density that makes ticker search dangerous. Chain ID 56 is the check most people skip. Trust Wallet and MetaMask both connect; both will happily sit on Ethereum while you think you are on BNB.

Force chain ID 56 before you quote

Select BNB Chain in the swap widget and confirm the wallet network is BNB Smart Chain / chain ID 56. A BNB balance on a CEX is not an on-chain BNB Chain balance. Withdraw to your wallet on BNB Chain first if that is where the funds still sit. Keep BNB for gas even when the pair is USDT-quoted. USDT is often the deeper dollar than USDC here

On BNB Chain, many routes and books grew up around USDT. If a USDC quote looks oddly wide, compare the same input into USDT. Still verify which USDT contract you are using — bridged and native-style listings are not interchangeable. ERC-20s need an allowance the first time. Prefer exact amounts. Then confirm the swap and read the receipt. If you are exiting into a dollar token to bridge later, pick the variant that actually has bridge liquidity — not the first USDT ticker in the search box.

Creating a token is a different button

Launchpad on BNB Chain can deploy a fixed-supply ERC-20 (no mint, tax, or blacklist) or a bonding-curve launch when factory contracts are live. That is how you generate a token. This page is how other people swap one that already has a pool. Do not deploy a ticker clone of someone else’s BscScan address and expect routing to treat them as the same asset.

Cheap gas is not cheap attention

BNB Chain will let you retry a bad memecoin five times for pennies. That is not an argument for five retries. One failed sell after a successful buy is the signal to stop, not to raise slippage to 20%. If you are flattening BNB to USDT to pay Launchpad LP, use the verified USDT you will actually pair — mixing USDC.e-style cousins into LP is how your own buyers inherit a bad quote.
