How to move tokens from Ethereum to Base. Ethereum → Base is the most common “I want cheaper swaps of the same asset family” move. Both chains are EVM. Your address looks the same. That is why people send ERC-20s with a normal transfer to themselves and then wonder why Base is empty — a same-address transfer on Ethereum stays on Ethereum. You need a bridge.

Same address, different ledgers

Your 0x account on Ethereum and Base is the same key. Balances are not shared. Select cross-chain, Ethereum as source, Base as destination. Confirm the wallet is on Ethereum to sign the source transaction. Keep ETH on Ethereum for that gas and a little ETH on Base so you can swap after arrival.

What arrives is a Base representation

ETH arriving on Base is Base ETH (good for gas). USDC may arrive as native USDC or a bridged wrapper depending on the route. Check Basescan. If you landed in the thin variant, swap into native USDC on Base before you trade further.

Do not double-submit

Bridges take minutes, not seconds. Status can look idle. A second send is how people pay twice. Wait for the destination explorer, then swap.

When to swap before bridging

If Ethereum gas makes a small token-to-USDC swap silly, you might still prefer to bridge ETH or USDC — the deepest assets — and swap the long tail on Base. If the token has no honest Base market, bridging it creates a stranded wrapper. Check Base liquidity first.

After funds are on Base

Self-send is the bug that will not die

Transferring USDC to your own 0x on Ethereum does not credit Base. The address equality is the trap. Use cross-chain mode, wait for Basescan, then swap. If you already self-sent, the tokens are still on Ethereum — swap or bridge from there, do not send a second copy “to Base” by repeating the same transfer.
